PRESS RELEASE AUGUST 2008
Eagle Web Press, Salem OR
800-800-7980 Cal Borman
First UV Cold Web in the Northwest
Article by Cal Borman
In 2004, Eagle Web Press installed UV 4/C process equipment in the place of installing Heat-set equipment which can pollute our air quality. This process does not require Natural Gas and eliminates harmful VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) into our atmosphere. This is a “Green” technology emitting no VOC’s because the materials polymerize rather than evaporate. Eagle Web Press was one of the first cold web press companies to utilize this technology and have recently installed two additional new QuadStack press towers from Web Press Corporation of Kent, WA.
The UV process relies on special inks that have photo initiators in them, when exposed to UV light, creates a chain reaction that forms a solid, dry continuous ink, yielding bright, vivid colors and deep rich blacks. We are very pleased with the success to date and anticipate an ever growing increase in demand of UV printed products.
Key Benefits include: printing both coated and uncoated paper, smaller press runs, instant drying (no smears), improved color brightness, clean air, and less energy costs.
Eagle Web Press recognized long ago that with the continued growth of the company came increased responsibilities to the “global warming” issues. We have a demonstrated history of pursuing the use of “green” technologies. The goal is to conserve and save the environment. This commitment will continue for generations. UV printing is the next step in that pursuit.
Eagle Web Press operates out of a 65,000 sq. ft. facility in Salem, Oregon and is located 40 minutes south of Portland. To learn more about how this new technology can help meet your printing needs, contact the sales staff of Eagle Web Press.
