Checklist at a Glance

1. Use PostScript Fonts. TrueType fonts, which are standard on PCs, sometimes cause prepress equipment to crash. If you must use TrueType fonts, send them over to be tested on our equipment.
2. Special text effects, such as outlines and shadows, should be created in drawing programs. Style attributes in desktop publishing programs may not reproduce when processed. Also, outline and shadow styles will not trap unless created as a drawing in a program like Illustrator.
3. Include fonts from EPS files. Turn text into outlines or paths when possible. Otherwise, screen and printer fonts used in graphics must be included with the final job.
4. Set up the color palette correctly and test the color break of your document by printing color separations. Edit the final color palette by combining multiple versions of the same spot color. Spot colors in graphics and page layout programs need to have identical spellings for proper separation. Turn on the process separation box in spot colors if applicable. Do not use RGB colors.
5. Avoid nesting graphics within other graphics. If you must do this, include each separate graphic element as well as the composite that has been placed in your Quark or PageMaker document.
6. Set up booklets in single page reader spreads. Also, two-sided brochures should be set up as two page documents with proper panel sizing based on the type of fold and stock. Contact Eagle Web Press for correct dimensions.
7. Each file should have a different name. Revised files should be given new names.
8. FPO (For Position Only) Files. Files and special instructions should be clearly marked on the final lasers and on the electronic submission form.
9. Final lasers, folding dummies and backing dummies should be submitted with the disk. Print lasers with registration marks on the tile and if necessary to produce lasers at 100%. Both composite and color separated lasers are used as a guide to check film or plate accuracy.
